English Education Essays

There are different arguments about the age of education. As Masaru Ibuka states, В«From birth to three are the key years for developing a child intelligence, Dont wait til kindergarten!В» (Kindergarten Is Too Late). Formal schooling begins at five years old, but brain stimulation begins in the womb. Therefore, informal education before schooling age is a crucial step for formal education.

As one Turkish proverb states «Trees bend when they are young» and explains the age and importance of education. It is easy to conclude from this proverb that it is difficult to learn when you get older. However, formal education starts at the age of five and some people argue that this is the best time for education. Babies are affected when they are in their mothers womb. For example, if the mother is in stress during pregnancy, it may affect development of child.

It is possible to grow up children who are highly intelligent and sociable or passive and lazy. В«Give me a dozen healthy infants and my own specific world to bring them up in, and Ill guarantee to take any one at random and train him to become any type of specialist I might select  doctor, lawyer, artist, merchant, chef and yes, even beggar and thief, regardless of his talents, penchants, tendencies, abilities, vocations, and race of his ancestors.В» (John B. Watson, 1924). Hence, one can understand from Watsons words that education doesnt necessarily start in schooling age.

As conclusion, what most people believe about the age of education is not fully correct. Education is a lifelong process that is a vital step for development and intelligence of a person. Therefore, we shouldn’t wait until schooling age to educate our children.
